Are Siberian Kittens Hypo-Allergenic?

If you want to adopt a cat, but are an allergy sufferer, we may have some good news for you!  Siberians are a low allergen or ‘hypoallergenic’ cat. This does not mean that Siberians are ‘allergy-proof’ or cannot cause a reaction in people.  It simply means that they produce less of the Feline d1 protein (Fel-d1) that is found in the cat’s saliva that is thought to be the culprit for producing allergic reactions.

Not all Siberians have the same low level of Fel-d1 and some people could react to some Siberian cats and not others. If you are allergic to cats and want to test your allergic response to Siberians, you might want to try an at home test with our fur samplesPlease contact Tunies if you are interested.  There is a fee to mail out the fur samples.

Tunie’s Siberians gives the buyer the option to return a kitten to our cattery if the buyer develops an allergy after purchase.  In our written contract we allow the buyer to return a kitten to our cattery within 7 days for a full refund of payment excluding deposit ($200 – deposit fees are not refundable). This option is only for people that have no other animals in their home.
